Welcome David Etherington!

February 9, 2026

The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour is pleased to welcome David Etherington as our new Communications Coordinator, starting March 2, 2026. David brings years of student and union activism, along with political experience working with the NS NDP.

We’re honoured and excited to have David join our team!

David is a political organizer who has lived in Nova Scotia since 2007.

With a background in labour and student organizing, David has filled staff roles with the Canadian Federation of Students and the Nova Scotia NDP. During his time with the student movement, David played an active role with the Nova Scotia Post Secondary Education Coalition, which united students, professors and staff to fight back against the ever-present tactic of the boss, division.

A former member of CUPE 1281 and SEIU Local 2, David was Shop Steward for the bargaining unit at the NSNDP Caucus Office.

David has experience running issue based and political campaigns in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, and Alberta. He is very interested in membership development and training, and using digital tools to engage, educate, and mobilize members.

When not organizing, David enjoys spending time with family in Halifax, the Annapolis Valley, and New Brunswick, and reading a good book in the sun.
