Statement on Women’s History Month from the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Women’s Committee

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Women’s Committee stands in solidarity with women across our province, country, and around the globe. This month is a powerful reminder of the struggles, achievements, and resilience of women who have paved the way for future generations. It is an opportunity to reflect on our history, acknowledge women’s ongoing challenges, and reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and social justice.

Women have always played a vital role in the labour movement. From the early suffragettes advocating for the right to vote to the women who stood at the forefront of workers’ rights, their contributions have been foundational to our society. Today, women continue to break barriers in various fields, from politics and healthcare to technology and education. Yet, despite these advances, we still encounter systemic inequalities and discrimination that hinder our progress.
