NS Federation of Labour 53rd Convention starts on Sunday, October 26 in Halifax

Halifax, N.S. –  The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour’s 2025 Convention opens this Sunday, October 26, at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, when hundreds of union members from across the province will gather to discuss fair wages, safe workplaces, and strong public services. The convention will also mark the final convention for President Danny Cavanagh after 45 years in the trade union movement, including the last 10 years leading the Federation.

Opening session: Sunday, October 26, at 2:00 pm.

Featuring remarks by President Danny Cavanagh and Nova Scotia NDP Leader Claudia Chender.

On Monday, October 27 Bea Bruske, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, will speak.

Media are welcome to attend.

Delegates will be debating a number of resolutions on issues, including affordable housing, shortages in health care, occupational health and safety, health care, public services and jobs.

On Tuesday morning there will be elections for a new Federation of Labour Executive Council.

Water Street and the convention is in Commonwealth Ballroom.
