National Social Work Month: A Statement from the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour

March 7, 2025

As the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour, we recognize March as National Social Work Month. This is a time to celebrate the critical role that social workers play in our province and to appreciate the dedication they exhibit daily in their challenging work. Social services are the cornerstone of our society, offering support and resources to those in need. Our social workers are at the heart of these services, providing everything from mental health support to advocating for community equity issues. They work tirelessly to bring real, tangible change to Nova Scotia individuals, families, and communities.

Social workers continue to push forward everyday, with a commitment to their work and profession and to the people they serve. You are our front-line heroes, often first to witness the struggles faced by the most vulnerable in our communities. The importance of your work cannot be overstated. You help mend the broken and work towards building a future where everyone can thrive. We recognize that it’s a challenging job, but the impact you make everyday is immeasurable. Sisters and brothers as we celebrate National Social Work Month, let’s remember to thank our social workers for their unwavering commitment. Together let’s advocate for them as they do for us. We honour your dedication, we celebrate your achievements, and we stand with you in your quest for a better, fairer Nova Scotia. Your work is vital, and we are profoundly grateful for your service. This month, and every month, we say thank you.
