National Public Service Week Statement

June 16, 2025

We are proud to speak about National Public Service Week, which takes place from June 15 to 21. This is a special time each year when we come together to celebrate the hard work and dedication of public service employees working in our communities. Let’s recognize that public service workers play a vital role in our communities. They are the ones who show up during natural disasters and other challenging times. These individuals put their lives on the line to keep us safe and supported. But their essential work does not stop there. Every day, public service workers help to ensure that the services they provide run smoothly.

They help us access essential services and support that we often take for granted. In addition to the valuable services they provide, these workers also make significant contributions to our local economies. When they earn their salaries, they spend their hard-earned dollars in our communities. This spending supports local businesses, from grocery stores to restaurants, helping to create jobs and keep our economy vibrant.

Their purchases contribute to the overall economic health of Nova Scotia, which is essential for maintaining and growing our GDP. When public service jobs thrive, they add value to our economy, ensuring that our communities remain strong and resilient. This week is a time to say thank you to these dedicated individuals. It is a time to recognize that their work truly matters. Without them, our communities would struggle to function. They are the backbone of many communities. During National Public Service Week, we should take a moment to reflect on the importance of these workers in our lives. Think about the last time you utilized a government service. Behind every service, there are hardworking individuals committed to their jobs and to serving the public.

Their dedication ensures that we have access to the resources and support we need. It is important to celebrate their achievements and show our appreciation. We encourage everyone to participate in activities this week that highlight the contributions of public service workers. Whether it’s attending local events, sharing messages of gratitude on social media, or simply saying thank you to a public service employee you meet, every action counts. Let us remember that public service is not just a job; it is a calling. These workers are dedicated to making our country, province, and communities better places for everyone. Their commitment to serving the public deserves to be recognized and celebrated, not just this week but every day. Thank you to all public service workers across Canada. Your work keeps our communities strong, safe, and thriving.

You are appreciated, and we stand with you in gratitude for everything you do. Let’s celebrate your contributions during National Public Service Week and beyond!
