National AccessAbility Week: May 25 to 31, 2025

May 26, 2025

Every year, starting on the last Sunday in May, Canadians celebrate National AccessAbility Week (NAAW). Founded as ‘National Access Awareness Week’ in 1988 and inspired by Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, this week is an opportunity to celebrate Canadians with disabilities and raise awareness of the critical need for accessibility and inclusion for all in our communities and workplaces.

This year, join us from May 25 to 31 we celebrate:

  • the valuable contributions and leadership of persons with disabilities in Canada
  • the work of allies, organizations and communities that are removing barriers
  • ongoing efforts to become a more accessible and disability inclusive Canada

The theme for National AccessAbility Week this year is “Breaking barriers together: Paving the way for an inclusive future.”

It highlights the importance of working together to build a fairer, more inclusive Canada. Let’s join forces to break down barriers and support the needs and interests of persons with disabilities.

When persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to contribute to their communities and workplaces, we create a thriving society and a brighter future for everyone.
