May is Jewish Heritage Month

May 13, 2025

The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour proudly celebrates Jewish communities’ rich history, culture, and contributions in our province and across Canada. Jewish Heritage Month is a time to recognize the critical role that Jewish workers, families, and leaders have played in shaping our society for the better. Throughout history, Jewish people have faced discrimination, exclusion, and antisemitism. Yet, despite these challenges, they have shown incredible resilience and strength. Their contributions range from building strong labour movements to advancing human rights and social justice for everyone.

These values are ones we deeply share and uphold in the labour movement. This month, we also reflect on the importance of standing united against antisemitism and all forms of hate. Antisemitism has no place in our workplaces, communities, or society. Together, we must continue fighting for inclusion, equality, and fairness for everyone. We encourage everyone to take time this month to learn more about Jewish culture, traditions, and history. Educating ourselves and celebrating diversity can build a more inclusive and respectful society. To all Jewish workers and their families, we say thank you for your contributions and wish you a meaningful Jewish Heritage Month.
