Chris Roberts, National Director of the Canadian Labour Congress’s Social and Economic Policy Department, and I will open the discussion with an overview of the trade war, and debunk the proposal that removing interprovincial trade barriers is a solution that could result in significant economic growth.

The webinar includes a roundtable discussion on the impacts of the trade war in the region and nationally, as well as worker-centred solutions in the face of imposed tariffs.

Roundtable Speakers: Bea Bruske, President, Canadian Labour Congress Lana Payne, National President, Unifor, and member of the federal government’s Canada-US panel on tariffs. Jessica McCormick, President, Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour, and a member of that province’s trade committee. Moderator: Ajay Parasram, CCPA-NS Steering Committee member and Associate Professor, Departments of International Development Studies and History, Dalhousie University

Opening remarks: Jennifer Murray, Atlantic Director, Unifor

Closing remarks: Danny Cavanagh, President, NSFL

As the tariff crisis continues, we will continue to demand that decision-makers prioritize policies that leave no one behind.
