Celebrating Nurse Practitioner Week

November 10, 2025

Happy Nurse Practitioner Week!

This week, we celebrate the incredible work of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) across Nova Scotia. Every day, nurse practitioners play a vital role in keeping our health care system strong. Whether it’s in hospitals, long-term care, community health centres, or NP-led clinics, they are often the first point of care for people who need help and the steady hand that guides them through recovery and support.

Nurse practitioners combine compassion, skill, and experience. They listen closely, treat the whole person, and build trust with patients and families. They fill critical gaps in our health system especially in rural and under-served communities offering everything from primary care to chronic disease management, mental health support, and preventative care. In many cases, NPs are helping ensure that people get the care they need without long waits or unnecessary trips to the emergency room.

The work of nurse practitioners has never been more important. As our health system faces staffing shortages, growing demands, and an aging population, NPs are stepping up and delivering quality care with professionalism and heart. They work in collaboration with nurses, doctors, and other health professionals to make the system work better for everyone.

We also recognize the need for governments to fully support nurse practitioners with fair pay, secure jobs, and the resources they need to do their best work. Investing in nurse practitioners means investing in stronger, more accessible health care for all Nova Scotians and Canadians.

To every Nurse Practitioner thank you for your commitment, compassion, and dedication. You are leaders in health care and champions for your patients. You make a difference every single day in hospitals, homes, and communities across this province
