EI Must Be Fixed Now!

Now is the time for the federal government fix Employment Insurance and invest in public infrastructure and services to make life more affordable. The US-Canada tariff war is causing job loss, hardship in our communities, and panic in our households.

The recently implemented 25% U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods and a 10% tariff on energy products are expected to affect Nova Scotia’s economy and workforce significantly. Estimates suggest that thousands of jobs in the province could be affected across key export-dependent industries such as seafood, tires, forestry, and manufacturing.

The Prime Minister must take immediate action to fix Employment Insurance permanently and ensure everyone has at least $600/week to live on.

Send a message now to the Prime Minister, the Federal Finance Minister and the Jobs and Families Minister, we will also copy all the Nova Scotia provincial MLAs and federal MPs.

Join us to oppose workplace violence. By taking this pledge, we commit to fostering a culture of safety and respect in our workplaces and collaborating to prevent violence in all its forms.

We know that in today’s workplaces, the rise in workplace violence is a pressing concern, especially for those in positions of public exposure. Frontline workers are our everyday heroes who often face violence and harassment at work. This issue is a social problem and demands immediate action.

Our campaign is committed to eliminating workplace abuse and ensuring all workers can carry out their duties free from fear.

Join the Federation of Labour Campaign that Violence is not part of the job and sign to send a message to Nova Scotia Members of the Legislature (MLAs) officials holding them accountable for the working conditions and abuse experienced by frontline workers.

Nova Scotia Needs Anti-Scab Legislation!

We need anti-scab legislation in Nova Scotia. The right to strike is a fundamental aspect of our labour laws and is protected under the Canadian Constitution.

However, this right is undermined when employers are allowed to use replacement workers, or ‘scabs’, during legal strikes or lockouts.

This practice labour disputes, leading to negative impacts on our economy and community.

We need all-party support for the enactment of anti-scab legislation in Nova Scotia, in line with the proposed NDP draft and in existing legislation in Quebec, British Columbia.

Help end the abuse of Non-Disclosure Agreements!

Non-disclosure agreements (NDA) perpetuate a culture of secrecy, shielding individuals or organizations from the consequences of their actions. Non-disclosure agreements are contracts that were created to protect trade secrets. When used wrongly, secret settlement contracts are used to buy the silence of a victim or whistleblower, and NDA has become the default solution for organizations, corporations, and public bodies to settle cases of sexual misconduct, racism, pregnancy discrimination and other human rights violations.

We need to stand up to Non-Disclosure Agreements, speak out, and stop protecting sexual predators, bullies, racists, and abusers. By writing, you can make a difference and put pressure on our elected leaders.
