The US-Canada tariff war is causing job loss, hardship in our communities, and panic in our households. The recently implemented 25% U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods and a 10% tariff on energy products are expected to affect Nova Scotia’s economy and workforce significantly. Estimates suggest that thousands of jobs in the province could be affected across key export-dependent industries such as seafood, tires, forestry, and manufacturing.

The Prime Minister must take immediate action to fix Employment Insurance permanently and ensure everyone has at least $600/week to live on.

Send a message now to the Prime Minister, the Federal Finance Minister and the Jobs and Families Minister, we will also copy all the Nova Scotia provincial MLAs and federal MPs.

We need anti-scab legislation in Nova Scotia. The right to strike is a fundamental aspect of our labour laws and is protected under the Canadian Constitution. However, this right is undermined when employers are allowed to use replacement workers, or ‘scabs’, during legal strikes or lockouts. This practice labour disputes, leading to negative impacts on our economy and community. We need all-party support for the enactment of anti-scab legislation in Nova Scotia, in line with the proposed NDP draft and in existing legislation in Quebec, British Columbia.
