March is Social Work Month

March 2, 2023

Social Work Month is a time to recognize and celebrate social workers’ vital daily work to break down barriers and create a more just and equitable society. The theme for Social Work Month 2023 is Social Work Breaks Barriers. This theme highlights the crucial role that social workers play in challenging and dismantling barriers that prevent individuals and communities from achieving their full potential. Social workers help address many issues, including poverty, homelessness, addiction, mental health, and domestic violence. They work to empower individuals and communities to overcome these challenges and create positive change.

Social Work Month is celebrated every March to recognize social workers’ contributions and their critical role in society. Social workers work with individuals, families, groups, and communities to address social problems, promote social justice, and enhance well-being. They work in various settings, including schools, hospitals, mental health clinics, community organizations, and government agencies. Social Work Month provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the profession and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
